Truffle, Comté & cured ham croque monsieur

Croque monsieur à la truffe, comté & jambon cru

A simple, refined and very gourmet recipe that pairs perfectly with your truffle sauces. Ideal for an elegant lunch or a high-end appetizer to share.

Ingredients (2 people)

  • 4 slices of country bread
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of your truffle sauce
  • 4 slices of Comté cheese
  • 2 slices of cured ham
  • 20g butter
  • A few arugula leaves
  • Black pepper

Gourmet option

  • Caramelized onions
  • Pan-fried mushrooms
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation

1. Prepare the croques

Lightly butter the outside of the bread slices.

Inside:

  • spread your truffle sauce,
  • add the Comté cheese,
  • the cured ham,
  • then a few turns of black pepper.

Close the croques.


2. Brown them

In a hot pan or a croque-monsieur maker:

  • cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side,
  • until you get a golden crust and melted cheese.

3. Serve immediately

Cut the croques in half, then add:

  • a few arugula leaves,
  • a drizzle of olive oil,
  • possibly a light additional amount of truffle sauce on top.
